About UsBrief HistoryA 14-year civil war left an entire generation of Liberian children in desperate need of education. With schools destroyed and libraries non-existent, CLTEF seeks to restore education first. Founder, president and native Liberian R. Joanna Weeks Reeves has found through personal experience that reading is the best way to educate. Without books, our minds are simple and uninformed. Our reach is short. CLTEF’s goal is simple: give every child a chance to dream, a chance to become. Our MissionTo enrich children’s lives and inspire life-long learning by providing access to books and educational materials, and to implement programs designed to equip children and their families with helpful resources. Our Vision and General PurposeAt CLTEF we want to see children in Monrovia, Liberia and Kansas City inspired and prepared to explore, obtain knowledge and cultivate social change. CLTEF joins forces with schools and community organizations to bring literacy and social skills to young girls and boys. We envision parents and guardians taking an active role in the educational and social development of their children.
Our StoryFounders R. Joanna Weeks Reeves, Eunice D. Weeks Martin, Hyla B. Weeks and Lischen P. Reeves launched Children LifeTime Educational Foundation in May 2008 to give the gift of reading to Liberia's children. Over time, their vision evolved to include Kansas City's children.
